Animal Medical Hospital of Centereach provides the best care for your pet. Our hospital prides itself on keeping your pet pain-free and as safe as possible during their surgical procedures.
Prior to surgery, your pet should be seen by a veterinarian to go over previous medical history as well as vaccination history.
The night before your surgery date, you will receive a call from one of our receptionist to go over the rules of surgery for your pet. Your pet should not eat or drink past midnight, the night prior to surgery.
Your pet would be dropped off in the morning between 8:30 and 9:30am. Surgical hours are between 12pm and 3pm Mondays through Fridays. Your pet will need to be dropped off in the morning to allow us time to place an intravenous catheter, mandatory, and run bloodwork, if needed.
After your pets surgery, a licensed veterinary technician or veterinarian will call you to give you an update and to schedule a time to discharge your pet.
At the time of discharge, a veterinary technician will go over discharge instructions and medications with you. Feel free to ask any questions you may have!
Your pet will go home with an elizabethan collar AKA the “cone of shame”
